U14 article of the week

The year started with us in Gold division and a grand final rematch against
Macleod first round. We couldn't get our revenge and then went on to play
some of the obviously better teams in Gold and struggled. Luckily we were
relegated to Brown division and from there, the season has been up and down.

Some annoying losses to lower teams but some great come from behind wins,
like the one against Hawthorn Citizens. We have won 5; lost 9 but have
learnt a lot and had fun along the way.

A lucky few of us were invited along to the Oakleigh Chargers to take part
in a two day camp. I was one of the lucky ones and really enjoyed it. The
first day involved a skills session with some kicking drills and some good
fitness exercises. The second day was game day and we were all on the same
team and ready to go. Until we stepped out of the change rooms and realised
how bitterly cold it was (It was the coldest day for two years). Many people
struggled to see the ball, let alone mark it, but many impressed the scouts
for sure.

There have been many milestones along the way with one boy playing his 50th
game (Jake L) while some guys have managed to make 100 games (Chris and
Harrison H, Charlie V, James Z and Josh L who will play his 100th this week) which is a great achievement.

There have also been many great individual achievements throughout the year too many to mention.

Hopefully we can finish off the year with a couple of wins but before the
end of the year, I on behalf of the team would like to thank all parents,
game day volunteers and of course our coach Kieran and team manager Vickie.

Thank You J.D.
